Sarcopenia is usually defined as loss of muscle mass and function and has a close relation with aging. Therefore, the rapid aging and the rising of aging population in Korea implies that we should focus on the clinical importance of sarcopenia rather than any other disease that we may face in the future. Lately, the cause of sarcopenia has been identified to have similar relations with chronical and malignant diseases and the importance was acknowledged extensively. The Korean Society of Sarcopenia, with the aim to start the rare studies of muscle, was established in the summer of 2015 based on the association of research on sarcopenia. We have been trying to publish standart textbook about sarcopenia this summer, based on the studies and research results we achieved so far.

The Korean Society of Sarcopenia
The Association of Sarcopenia was formed in the summer of 2013 and started to study muscles which was rare at the time. After that in 2015, based on it, The Korean Society of Sarcopenia was established and has been running ever since. And has published a standard textbook about Sarcopenia based on various lectures and research results.
