After the establishment of The Korean Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia in the beginning of 2016, the board meeting sympathized with the need for a textbook of ambulatory anesthesia for systematic education and began with the publication. We greatly appreciate the attention and encouragement of professor HongSeuk Yang who already has experience in publishing "Anesthesia of operations on the day and Contraction" in the early 2000s. Up to recently, there aren't as many operations on the day. But in the US and Europe the ratio of the operations on the day accounts for 50~70% of the whole so we expect that this will also follow domestically. Also according to recent certification evaluation, psychosedation methods in each hospital is receiving attention, and the establishment of medical charge by the monitored anesthesia care is highlighting the need of correct ambulatory anesthesia practices.

Over 20 professors strived to write and review the textbook for almost 1 year, before it was published. We appreciate all their efforts and especially professors Sanggi Min and Geunjoo Choi for taking part as the editing chairman and publication director. We hope that the textbook will play its role as a guide for safe and fast recovery from amulatory anesthesia to specialists and medical residents.
