Overview

This volume is closer to a science essay than a textbook.

Book Intro

This volume consists of 4 sections. The first section is about AIDS. As you know, AIDS is an important disease but is not easy to approach academically. And surprisingly, in the Harrison textbooks are hundreds of pages of minute font size texts, which nobody would have given a thought of giving it a try. Therefore, I have strived to lower the entry barriers. To approach relatively easily, gossip and unofficial history would be the best way, so I ranged over AIDS related history to organize the context. The second is about the legal communicable diseases of Korea. The main point is 'Go back to the basics!' Memorizing clinical knowledge superficially will only fade away shortly. The foundation always has to be solid to utilize clinical knowledge easily. I have, therefore, focused especially on pathogenesis studies while writing. The third is about the legal communicable diseases overseas. We have already experienced that if oversea travelers are infected with endemic diseases, which are also contagious, and then transferred into the country, it no longer is someone else's affair but can also lead to domestic disaster, as we have experienced through MERS(Middle East Respiratory Syndrome). The fourth is about medical related infection, resistance, disinfection and sterilization. You may be well-informed of medical related infection control through the instructions the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Korean Society for Healthcare-associated Infection Control and Prevention have made and distributed, but I wanted to handle the basic concept and philosophy connoted in this theme.
