- Book Intro
-
In the early stages of development when there were few antibiotics, great men in biographies were noticed as heroes. However, when a range of antibiotics were developed, it was not a persons heroic action but a cooperation of obscure, ordinary but patient and diligent unsung heroes that came up. Therefore they don't have as much impact as the heroes in the past. And as the theme is 'Antibiotics', I realized that my focus should be on 'Antibiotics' and not 'Human'. As the title is 'Fierce fights of Antibiotics', the history of antibiotics should deal with how an antibiotic started off and how it has corrected its drawbacks to redeem. So 'Fierce fights of Antibiotics' doesn't cover the lives of preceeding scientists who devoted to the development of antibiotics but how the antibiotic itself evolved. As a result, the records of structure-activity relationship improvements in pharmacologic aspects are the main contents of this book. In other words, the volume explains 'why' each antibiotics obtained such qualities according to the transition over time.
