What makes us human, traced by Bae, Chul-hyun, a professor at the Department of Religious Studies at Seoul National University "What makes us human?" To answer this fundamental question, Dr. Bae, Chul-hyun of the Department of Religious Studies at Seoul National University recorded the amazing development of the human mind from the birth of the universe 13 billion years ago to the dawn of modern man 10,000 years ago. He analyzes the moments of innovation and creativity achieved by mankind, such as the use of tools, the birth of art, and the origin of religion, and traces the driving force that made such achievements possible. By destroying the boundaries between science and philosophy, art and religion, the author takes the perspective of a humanist and uncovers the key to human evolution—altruism. At times when altruism revealed itself, when people accepted the pain of others as their own, human beings made a leap. The history of mankind's efforts to discover that great DNA and protect it is the great journey of mankind. Human beings are animals that seek meaning. "Why do we live?" This fundamental question awakens the altruism that lurks in us. For readers struggling to survive another day in a society dominated by individualism and selfishness, this book can provide an opportunity to reexamine the indicators of our lives.
