Book Intro

<Why We Go To Work> is a book of career advice for those who question the basic reason we maintain a career, and the essence of companies. The book offers various tips for those in their thirties who find themselves contemplating the meaning of work, especially those at the beginning stage of their career. They are core lessons that the author has learned as a journalist, a CEO, and the head of a head hunting firm which recommends qualified employee candidates for companies. More precisely, they are answers for people who continue to waver and hesitate about taking a step forward in their career. You should not consider your place of work as merely a place that pays you for your work. Your place of work is where you realize your self-worth. In other words, the more you find worth in your work life, the bigger satisfaction you will feel in your life in general. At the end of the day, you have made the choice to work at where you work. Taking responsibility for yourself means finding meaning in your career. “Why do we go to work?” is a question that eventually leads to the other question, “How can I increase my worth?” Your worth as an employee influences your role, authority and compensation within your company. And this difference in authority and compensation will have a positive influence on your work life. According to the book, the best competitive edge you can secure is to differentiate yourself. Setting yourself apart is the most efficient way to bring up your worth. Do not forget that making your career valuable is an essential step in investing in the quality of your life.
