Book Intro

Fauster

Park Junseok, a left-handed fireballer from hell, is professional baseball's best pitcher. It's a sure thing that he'll make it to the major league next year. He wins again today with his perfect control. Junseok, who believes that he controls his life and the game, has a questionable car accident on his way home and falls unconscious. When he wakes up, a woman he doesn't know named Kyeong is standing in front of him.  "There's a leech in your head," she says, and tells him that it is a special connection medium which transmits Junseok's visual and auditory information. A vampire, some old man, shares and controls Junseok's whole life through that medium. Kyeong hands an old burner phone to Junseok, who doesn't believe a word that she is saying, and disappears after telling him to call her before the medium is turned on.

Taegeun, presently retired and living in seclusion, was responsible for various unjust laws and the administration of the dictatorial government as the Chairman of the National Assembly. But during those 10 years, Taegeun secretly helped with the establishment of Mepisto Korea and participated as a "Faust Body" to live a second life under the Mepisto system. Mepisto implants a special connection medium into the brain of a young man so that an old man can  enjoy the young man's life as if it were his own. A "Faust" can control the future of the selected young man using various Mepisto systems, and can even compete and bet with it. Only old men over the age of 65 can join this system, with a membership fee of 10 billion won. It is a closed game, conducted under strict confidentiality and guard.

Kyeong's father was the late Chairperson of Seonjin Group, Choi Hyeongsik, who passed away last year. She learned about all this through a book left behind by her father and found out that Mepisto and Junseok's Faust have something to do with her father's death. Kyeong decides to find them and revenge her father's death. To do this, she needs the help of Junseok, who is the only Fauster she found in her father's records. Junseok has to find Faust in order to get his life back. Kyeong also has to join hands with Junseok for her father's revenge. The two head off for the painful fight to confront Mepisto and Faust.
