Seven O'clock Breakfast Club of Disheartened People
Baeg Young-ok’s Seven o'clock Breakfast Club of Disheartened People portrays the life and daily life, work and dream, and love and separation in a polished style. This book can be categorized as both a romance novel and a coming-of-age fiction. Baeg portrays characters who feel satisfaction, grow up, get hurt in relationships and look for a new person, and captures the feelings they have in their hearts. Being fully engaged in the story herself, she delivers their voices as lively as possible. What is central in her narrative is the power of positive thinking, which enables suffering and humor to coexist and allows the readers to have faith in light even when the characters wander in darkness. Baeg has written novels that have inspired readers with not-too-serious subjects and moved their hearts and also published essays including Another Man and What Anne of Green Gables Said, gaining wide popularity. Those who have read her essays before will be able to notice how deep and beautiful the world created by her is.
