Why do I need an 'approval' to save lives?
- Book Intro
-
The story centers on Gang-hyeok Baek, a brilliant yet eccentric doctor working at the Critical Care Trauma Center, which is money-drainer for Hanguk University Hospital. It describes the daily struggles faced by medical professionals who are willing to do anything to save lives. The first part of the original web fiction, which was downloaded more than 15 million times, is an epic story that could be divided into 16 volumes. The newly published book series, however, presents a compact version of the web fiction by compressing it into five volumes with carefully selected episodes. Despite the compression, the enthralling, quick-paced storyline with highly descriptive operation scenes that has engrossed the readers still remains intact. Instead of focusing solely on the entertainment value, this book brings to light the serious issues concerning real-life trauma centers and even presents how trauma centers in Korea can be improved.
