Overview

This book discloses all the secrets of the everyday life of the author, a mom has tried to raise a child who can speak many languages in this multi-lingual age.

Book Intro

Seo-yeon, who appeared on SBS's "Discover the Gifted and Talented Youth," was introduced as a child who mastered five languages at the age of seven. Seo-yeon has been able to read, speak, and write five languages including Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese and Spanish through only the foreign language teaching methods utilized by her mom.

English has become a basic language, and now you have to speak at least one additional language--ideally two or three more languages--in addition to English if you want to be competitive in a global society. We have gone past the bi-lingual age and right into the multi-lingual age.

Seo-yeon’s mom, the author, says that raising a multi-lingual child is not an inherent ability but up to the efforts of the mother. This book discloses all the everyday secrets ceaselessly attempted by Seo-yeon’s mom that eventually led Seo-yeon onto broadcast media as a gifted child in languages.

About the Author

Lee Jina

(English) Lee Jina, who used to be a working mom, observed how her daughter Seoyeon's linguistic abilities weren't developing as readily as she had hoped, and that’s when she realized that a mother's voice plays an important role in teaching languages to her children. Her next step was to start learning various languages in the hopes of applying the same methods to instill foreign language skills in her daughter’s daily life. After six years of trials, errors, and grueling efforts, the author and her daughter now speak five languages (Korean, English, Chinese, Spanish, and Japanese).
