Overview

In this age of no feelings that life is considered neglectable, material is considered as superior, and the result or the goal is emphasized rather than the effort or the process, listening to the tales told by ‘life’ opens our eyes to the value of our life and everything in the world.

Book Intro

As the author says he wrote the book with ‘a wish for a world full of people who love their life and cherish others' lives as well,’ it contains enlightening tales about the preciousness of life.

Part 1, "The Tales Told by Life," consists of the stories that ‘life’ tells Todam, a fourth grade elementary school student who is on the verge of committing suicide, encouraged by ‘death,’ which appears to him the moment he thinks he wants to die, feeling his parents hating him. These are the tales that the life tells to Todam: Tears of Love, in which a mother who lost her child to death because she was unable to pay for a life-saving operation suffers horrible grief and tries to commit suicide but the father makes her shed tears of love by persuading her to consider other children as their own and live for them; An Old Man Who Tried to Buy Life with Money, in which a stingy old man tries to extend his life by paying money but fails because no one can buy life with anything and everyone must die someday; A Child Who Only Loved Robots, in which ‘death’ appears to a child, who only loved robots, and orders the robots to attack the child; Immortal Condemned Criminal and Why Shouldn’t a Child Become an Adult Right Away, through which the subjects like life and death, one’s own life and others' lives are dealt with in an entertaining fashion.

Part 2 includes four tales: Who Should Take the Apple, Don’t Go Away to Heaven, The Seventh Miracle, and A Disappearing Tale. They also talk about the importance of life and the value judgment we must make during our lifetime.

Part 3, Where is the Magic Club, is a juvenile drama with the story about children finding the magic club the baby goblin lost and returning it to him.
