Overview

What comes first—freedom or restrictions? Freedom vs. Restrictions is a book that helps children become better democratic citizens through discussions.

Book Intro

In Freedom vs. Restrictions, two children, Jayu (freedom) and Gyuje (restrictions), participate in after-school discussions dealing with topics closely related to children’s lives, such as the installation of CCTV in schools, regulations on students’ appearances, the banning of smartphones in school, as well as social issues such as euthanasia, game-shutdown policy, and assemblies and protests. Not leaning to one point of view or the other, the book gives equal weight to freedom and restrictions, providing cases and examples to help children think things through and form their own opinions. Through this process, children will come to know the true meaning of freedom and restrictions.
