Book Intro

WEEKDAYS Are also Your Life

- Embrace All the Moment

“I wish it were ______!”

The moment you wish for something in the future, the time now is wasted from your life.

You may have thought of this: the current life isn't really my life. In other words, you think that the destination is somewhere else and that you are somewhere on the way to the final stop. It is as if you believe that your weight right now is not fixed. We wish all the time. “I wish summer vacation would come soon!” “I wish I could get a job soon!” “I wish my English would improve quickly” As of the spring of 2020, people everywhere would have the same wish: “I wish COVID-19 goes away soon!”

In Weekdays Are Also Your Life, the author Kim Shin-ji says, “Of course, there are moments in life that you just pass. There are times when you have to wait or endure. The important thing is to realize that they are in no way time that is wasted.” Kim realized this one Saturday when she and her husband were caught in a traffic jam on their way to an arboretum. As Kim complained that they were wasting their precious two hours on a crowded road, her husband hummed, "If this is part of the trip, it is also a part of the trip."

This book tells about her mother who annoys and moves her, her childhood that is full of embarrassing stories, and the little joys that make her endure every day. The author Jung Serang says, “After reading thirty pages of this book, it felt as if my stress level also diminished by about thirty percent.”  Upon reading this book, you will smile in agreement with Jung. The warmth that permeates each sentence will warm up even the fingertips that turn the leaves.

About the Author

Kim Shin-ji

(English) The author Kim Shin-ji is a person who contemplates a life that does less of her best. “That's enough.” “It’s okay.” She tries to say these words to others and to herself as well. Her favorite thing to do is drinking beer in the morning while on vacation. After realizing that life does not go the way she wants, she decided to live as a beer devotee, living each day as if it were her last. She dreams of becoming an owner of a small beach house someday. Her books include It's Dawn Here Now and My Hobby is Like What I Like.

(Vietnamese) Là một người luôn suy nghĩ làm sao để có cuộc sống mà không phải quá sức mệt mỏi. “Như vậy thôi cũng đủ rồi.” Nỗ lực để tự an ủi bản thân, an ủi người khác.
