Overview

This book tells the story of Kim Yeon-koung, the best left striker in the history of Korean women's volleyball, who overcame her childhood of being overlooked and went on to perform in competitions in Japan and Turkey, eventually capturing the world.

Book Intro

A world-class volleyball player whose top-level skills are acknowledged by everyone, Kim Yeon-koung has created a sensation in the Korean volleyball world with her overwhelming performance in attack and defense, which is made possible by her outstanding physical attributes. Kim has captivated people with her witty talk and girlish charm. This book talks about how Kim Yeon-koung has been able to grow into the only global star in the history of Korean women's volleyball. Looking back from the moment she first started playing volleyball, she also tells an honest story about her own path to success.

Kim says that, whatever dreams you have in your heart, you have to challenge yourself. She adds that you have to be confident that you can do what you set your mind to, even when you’re faced with countless difficulties and obstacles. Confidence comes from believing in the person you are and trusting your hard work.

About the Author

Kim Yeonkoung

My(Kim Yeon-koung’s) motto and phrase that comes to mind when I’m having a hard time is “Don’t lose your motivation.” I always think of that phrase when I get conceited or when things don't go well for me. 2017 was a special year for me. It was the year when I received the biggest love from my fans and also the year when I entered in my 30s. Writing this book gave me an opportunity not only to go back from my childhood to my 20s and think about my motivation, but also to make plans for the future regarding my remaining time as a player and my retirement. I also came to realize that I have less days ahead of me in my volleyball career than the days I’ve already put behind me. I ask those who read this book to see not only the volleyball player Kim Yeon-koung but also the person Kim Yeon-koung. Please continue to support me!
