Graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine, trained at the Pittsburgh Liver Transplant Center in the U.S., served as the head of the medical department of Ajou University, the head professor and head of surgery at Ajou University Hospital, chief of liver transplantation and surgery at Ajou University Hospital, chief of cancer center, president of the Korean Liver Research Society, chairman of the Korean Society of Radiology, information director of the Korean Society of Surgery and the current chairman of the Korean Academy of Surgery
