Overview

This picture book reconstructs the Lion Masked Dance of Hwanghae-do's traditional Bongsan Masked Dance, and it features a story of regret, forgiveness and reconciliation.

Book Intro

(Russian)

(English) Lion Masked Dance

This picture book reconstructs the Lion Masked Dance of Hwanghae-do's traditional Bongsan Masked Dance. A lion visits a horseman to punish him. Without knowing the reason for the lion's visit, the horseman is busy joking. But he later regrets his wrong deeds and reconciles with the lion. Lion Masked Dance recreates a traditional Korean mask dance as a picture book by using rhythmic sentences and vivid colors to express the moving mane of the lion and the extravagant gestures of the horseman. The descriptions of the lion and the dynamic movements of the masked dance are superb.
