The story is unique in that instead of Europe that is the usual setting for the theme of divinity, the desolate wilderness of the West was opted for. It is a story of vengeance—a young priest, Ivan sells his soul to a devil in order to take vengeance on another devil who took everything away from him. The comic book is illustrated in a rough but seductive style that gets readers enamored with the young priest who may come off as being even more corrupt than the devil himself, for he will not stop his pursuit of vengeance even though he is violated time and again.

The character of Ivan who struggles between god and the devil and persists non-stop in his will to avenge the devil is not far off from men and it became the first Korean comic book to be filmed as a Hollywood movie.
