Overview

This is a story about a girl who grows up with children’s stories written by Astrid Lindgren.

Book Intro

This is the story of a girl’s mental growth in which she learns about a book called Pippi Longstocking and its author Astrid Lindgren after hearing her mother sing a song called “Pippi Longstocking” during karaoke. The protagonist, Bee-eup, looks for and reads each of Lindgren’s books and enjoys reading them. However, lacking money, she visits a used bookstore and meets the owner of the store, Miss Thatsright. She is the one who buys and collects all the books in Korea written by Lindgren. Miss Thatsright not only talks about Lindgren’s works, but also listens to the teenage Bee-eup about the conflict between her and her mother as well as insignificant fights with schoolmates, and she soon becomes a good friend and peer. Dear Mrs. Astrid Lindgren is a story about a girl named Bee-eup who psychologically grows up in the suburbs of a large city with her mother. This unique piece of work combines the world of the renowned fairytale author Astrid Lindgren with the everyday life of a Korean child.
Dear Mrs. Astrid Lindgren is about a ten-year-old girl who immerses herself in the story of Pippi Longstocking and feels a deep attachment to the author, Astrid Lindgren. The name Bee-eup was created after an experience her father had: before entering elementary school, her father knew only the first five consonants of the Korean alphabet, and when he learned about the sixth consonant (called "Bee-eup"), he felt that a new world had opened.
