Babies and toddlers like clapping. This is because the tingly feeling in their hands and the sound of clapping are new to them. So they clap their hands or do high-fives with others and feel delighted.
In this book, a little girl is waiting for her friends. When the bell rings, her animal friends show up and raise their hands to do a high five. A baby reading this book will raise their own hands as if to high five with the animals.
The animals include a rabbit, goat, bear, squirrel, crocodile, pig, and frog, and all of them have their own unique hands. Parents may use this book to quiz their babies about which hand belongs to whom.
In addition, just as the girl in the book is celebrating her birthday, this book can be used to have babies feel a sense of celebration. When all of her animal friends gather, the girl blows out a candle and her friends clap their hands together. In this ending scene, babies will be able to feel happy, as though it's their own birthday, and clap their hands with pleasure.
