Class 1-3 at Tan Tan Elementary School receives a special guest one day. The guest is none other than the fish that the teacher bought in Joa Mart. The kids name it "Geumbungi" since its scales shine golden in the sunlight. They place the fish by the window at the back of the classroom. Geumbungi becomes a new friend to the whole class.
One day, Dongchan sees Geumbungi take a huge jump above the water. Excited, he exclaims, "Way to go, Geumgbungi! You're just like an athlete!" Thanks to Dongchan, Geumbungi gets newly nicknamed "Fish Athlete". Sejin, who is good at drawing, paints a Taegeukgi and hangs it next to the fishbowl.
Geumbungi becomes the biggest pride of Class 1-3. During breaks, other kids come around to have a look. The kids in Class 1-3 boast about Geumbungi and sometimes stand in front of the fishbowl to block the view. Out of jealousy, King Whale in Class 1-1 issues a challenge to Geumbungi.
