(English) Geography As Seen Through Sports 

This book looks at 15 different fields of sports such as soccer, surfing, rock climbing, paragliding, and marathons from the perspective of geography. Difficult concepts such as valley winds and temperature inversion layers are transformed into interesting stories through questions such as:  "What kind of wind do we need for paragliders to fly higher and faster?" "How high can paragliders go?" The movements of the Earth's crust during the Paleozoic Era were influential in  forming Europe's professional soccer league, while the Himalayan Alps contain some of the most famous paragliding hotspots, and alluvial plains have become the backdrop for the world's best-known marathons... Curiosity will lead readers to easily understand the most formative concepts in geography.
