The racehorse Poe who suffered a severe injury in his leg during training can no longer run and is swept up in the anxiety of being euthanized. However, thanks to the desperate wish of the horse manager who cherished Poe, he meets a dung beetle, an engendered insect species needing healthy dung, and begins a new life as a "dung beetle nutritionist." This work excellently portrays the bond between humans and animals and the spirit of respecting life, and the encounter of two veteran authors adds to the depth of heartfelt impression.
