(English) <Mother's Island>
On a small island that appears above ocean waters, there are various small-sized houses in a cluster along a hill, zigzagging alleys, kids who are talking, and adults who are fishing. There is a barley field that creates green waves whenever the winds pass by, and pebbles that sing to the tune of the waves.
This island that the author created is distant, beautiful, and peaceful. It summons what we respectively long for, hidden deep inside our hearts. In this day and age where both children and adults are living a busy, chaotic life, this picture book soothes the fatigued minds of readers after a long day. It comforts us, just like a lullaby that our mothers used to softly sing to us, and makes us long for things that are precious but were forgotten.

当太阳在海平面上升起来，小岛从睡梦中醒来，懒洋洋地伸着懒腰。船笛声、手推车声、脚步声、喃喃的说话声、冰工厂里传来的哗哗声。小岛在各种声音的交汇中开始了崭新的一天。渔船靠岸，渔夫们把鱼哗啦啦地倒出来，鱼上面铺着的冰块在晨曦的照耀下像宝石一样闪闪发亮。这部绘本生动地描绘了广阔无边的大海与天空下幸福的 童年时光。作者娓娓道来的文字和清新明亮的图画，如同孩子们耳边轻吟摇篮曲一般。

Han Byungho
Byung Ho Han was born in Seoul in 1962 and majored in Oriental Painting at Chugye University of the Arts. He won many awards and participated in the Seoul International Painting Exhibition. Currently he is a member of the Korean Publishing Illustration Association and Rainbow Illustrations.
