Kang Jeongyeon started her career as a writer when her story The Yellow Dog Commits Suicide won the annual spring literary contest for fairy tales hosted by Munhwa Ilbo in 2004. She won the 18th Enlightenment Children's Literature Award, the 2005 Andersen Shadow Award and the 2007 Golden Goblin Award for The Proud Mr. Dodo. Kang is the author of numerous books including The Grumpy Old Man, The Real Unfair Story of Jeong Maro, A Busy Family, The Majestic Mrs. Shim Yebun, A Day of Changing a Classmate, It’s Really Strong, and A Bird on Crocksat Manbok Village.
