Kim Sol was born in Gwangju in 1973. He made his literary debut with his short story “The Goal of a Bet”, which won the 2012 Hankook Daily New Writer’s Contest. His works include the short story collections Amsterdam Garage Sale Round Two, The Ways the Survivors Experience Things and Language of Delusion and the novels The Beech Tree Virus, Universal Spirit, Macaroni Project, and Kwiek, the Emperor of the Romani Everywhere. He is the winner of the 3rd Moonji Literary Award, the 22nd Kim Jun-seong Literary Award and the 7th Young Writers’ Award.
