Kim Inhwan received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Ph.D. in Korean language and literature from Korean University. He was a long-time professor, and currently Professor Emeritus at Korea University. He made his literary debut with the critique on the poet Park Dujin in the literary journal, Hyundae Munhak, in 1972. He received the Kim Hwantae Criticism Literature Award in 2001, the Palbong Criticism Literature in 2003, the Contemporary Buddhist Literature Award in 2006, the Daesan Literary Award in 2008, and the Kim Junoh Poetics Award in 2012. He has also authored multiple books—The Principles of Criticism; Linguistics and Literature; Theories of Teaching Literature; Literature and Literary Thoughts; Imagination and Perspective; What is Modern Poetry?; The Theories on Korean Ancient Poetry.
