Haekyung Chung graduated from Ewha Womans University and earned her DSc in nutrition and food science from the graduate school of Ewha Womans University. She is a professor of nutrition and food science at Hoseo University. Dr. Chung served as the president of the Korean Society of Food Culture and the president of the Korean Home Economics Association. Currently, she commits herself to increasing awareness of Korean food, serving as a juror at food-industry promotion events, and is a Korean food adviser for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Although she studied western nutritional science at university, she was fascinated by Korean food culture and history and its scientific characteristics, and now devotes herself to Korean food studies.
Her published works include Culinary Culture in Seoul, 1,000 Years of the Korean Food Record, What Does Makgeolli Mean for Koreans?, and Humanities of Vegetables.
