Jang Gangmyeong (M) graduated from Yonsei University School of Engineering and worked for a construction company before quitting his job to join Dong-A Ilbo, where he worked for 11 years as a journalist in the social, political and industrial sectors. He has received the Journalist of the Month Award, Kwanhoon Press Award, and Citi Journlaist Excellence Award.
He debuted as a novelist with his novel Pyobaek, which won The Hankyoreh Literary Award. His novel No Frenzy, Eva Road won the Surim Literary Award, while Comments Unit won the Jeju 4.3 Peace Literature Award and Today's Author Award, End of the Month, or the Way You Remember the World won the Munhakdongne Writer Award. As for his short stories, Laying Off a Part-Time Worker won the Young Writer's Award and Hyunsudong Three Kingdoms Stories of Bakeries won the Yi Sang Literary Award.
He has also written the novels Because I Hate Korea, War is Our Wish, and Homo Dominance, the short-story collection Lumiere People, the non-fiction report Elected, Passed, Ranked and the essay Honeymoon in Five Years.
