Kim Do-yeon is from Daegwallyeong Pass in the Taebaek Mountains in Gangwon Province. After studying French literature at Gangwon University, he debuted in 2000 when he became the recipient of the Joongang New Writer’s Award. He has authored collections of stories, including The Story of a Bean, Realization Before and After Parting, The Month of the Full Moon, and Midnight at Buenos Aires. His novels include The Revolt of Silkworms, The Last Butcher Shop, Ninety-Nine, An Apology from Thirty Years Later, and Rolling Home with a Bull, which was made into a film. He has also published collections of essays: The Snow Story, The Ridge, and The Gangneung Shore.
