Im Chigyun is a professor in the Department of Humanities at the Graduate School of Korean Studies at the Academy of Korean Studies. With a doctorate in literature from Seoul National University, he seeks to find ways for classic novels to become more familiar to the general public. His works include A Study on Novels of the Joseon Dynasty (1996), A Study on the Classic Novels of the Jangseogak Library of Nakseonjae Collection (co-authored, 2005), and A Classic Novel Odyssey (2015), a book for an easy understanding of the classics, as well as The Black Wind, a novel based on classic novels, and Tale of Un’yeong: Why People Fall in Forbidden Love, and A Study on the Full-Length Novels of the Joseon Dynasty and The Novels of the Joseon Royal Court series.
