Kim Mella began their literary career after winning the Jaeum & Moeum New Writers’ Award in 2014. Their works include the short story collections At Least Twice and Have My Dreams; the novel High Sense of the Missing Floor; the novella The Book of Joy; and the essay collection The Crumpled Heart. They have received numerous literary honors, including the Munji Literary Award, the Lee Hyo-seok Literary Award, the Grand Prize of the Young Writers Award, and a Special Prize of the Lee Hochul Unification Literary Award.
