Yoon Mikyoung writes stories and children’s verses and draws illustrations. She debuted with the children’s story, Hedgehog Rolls Its Needles, which won the Golden Pen Literary Award in 2012. She won the Mudeung Ilbo Spring Literature Contest and received the Pureun Literary Award, the Excellent Children’s Story Award by the Korean Children’s Literature Society, and an award for excellent work by an emerging writer from the quarterly journal, Siwagyeonggye (Poetry and Boundaries). In 2019, Yoon received the MBC Grand Prize for Original Children’s Story with her book, The Yesterday Glasses of the Time Tortoise.

She has written and illustrated many books including the children’s verse collections, Twinkle Twinkle Shooting Star, Byeoljji and Glacier Virus; the children’s stories, National Runner-up Yi Jena and Pictures Holding Letters; young adult fiction, The Child Wearing Zebra Striped Socks; and the picture books, Mom Is a Chameleon and The Strawberries of That May.​
