Lee who was born in Jeju and grew up believing that science can change the world, loves reading. He initially started to study biochemistry at Yonsei University but realizing that the lab was not for him, he quit and instead decided to study philosophy at Seoul National University.
After his military service, the IMF crisis hit Korea and he decided to choose a solid path of taking the national bar exam which led him to serve as a judge at the Seoul Northern District Court, the Seoul Central District Court, the Gwangju District Court, the Uijeongbu District Court, and the Daejeon District Court.
Lee is currently a chief judge at the Uijeongbu District Court. During his station in Daejeon between 2017 and 2018, he founded the Korean AI Law Association with professor Lee Sang-yong who teaches law at Konkuk University (then at Chungnam National University) and also the Blockchain Law Society along with like-minded members. He is the first vice president of the Korean AI Law Association and the first president of the Blockchain Law Society.
