Born in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, Choi Hyeon-jin lives and writes in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province. She began her literary career in 2017 when her children’s story Heart-Pounding Hives won the Hankook Ilbo New Year’s Literary Contest. She has received the 25th Munhakdongne Children’s Literature Award and the 18th Changbi Award for Young Adult Fiction. Sparkle is her first young adult novel.​
