Park Chankook received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in philosophy from Seoul National University in South Korea, and a Ph.D. from the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg in Germany. He is currently a philosophy professor at Seoul National University. His main area of research is existentialism, encompassing Nietzsche and Heidegger. His recent interests include comparative analyses of Buddhism and Western philosophy. He has authored The Comparative Analysis of Wonhyo and Heidegger, Nietzsche and Buddhism, and Nietzsche’s Übermensch, and translated Existenzphilosophie im geistigen Leben der Gegenwart into Korean. He also published a paper titled “A Comparative Study of Heidegger’s Analysis of the Ways of Existence and the Trisvahāva Theory of the Yogācāra school.”
