Park Cheolhee, the main author, is a professor at the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University. He has served as an assistant professor at Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Stidies, an assistant professor at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, and a visiting professor at Columbia University, Keio University, and Kobe University. In addition, he has served as a member of the self-evaluating committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a member of the policy advisory committee at the Ministry of National Defense, representative manager of the Korea Japan Society and Culture Forum, director of the Institute for Japanese Studies at Seoul National University from 2012 to 2016, chairman of the Korean Association of Contemporary Japanese Studies in 2017, and director of the Graduate School of International Studies at Seoul National University from 2016 to 2018. His major works include The Making of Japanese Assemblymen, (Munye Chunchu, 2000), The Liberal Democratic Party Regime and Changes in the Postwar Structure (Seoul National University Press, 2011), and he has co-authored Japan’s Strategic Thought toward Asia (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007),  (Routledge, 2011), U.S. Leadership, History, and Bilateral Relations in Northeast Asia (Cambridge University Press, 2011), Transfer of Power in East Asia and Changes in Japan’s Foreign Policy Strategy (East Asia Foundation, 2014), Success and Failure of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (Seoul National University Press, 2014), Japan’s Collective Adoption of the Right of Self-defense (Seoul National University Press, 2016), and Understanding 50 Years of Korea-Japan Relations Based on Historical Comparison (National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, 2016) In 2005, he was awarded the 1st Nakasone Yasuhiro Award for his contribution in Japanese studies and improving Korea-Japan relations.
