(English) The writer Lee Gaeul was born in Daejeon, Korea in 1941. Running a children’s book specialty bookstore, Gaeul Geulbang, she became friends with many children. She was awarded many prizes such as grand prize for Original Work in Good Children's Books by Changbi Publishers, Buddhist Literature Prize, and Lee Juhong Literary Prize. She has written many children’s stories, including Sometimes When It Rains, School for the Remainders, A Month Ago Animal Hospital, The Rest of You, Little Miss Sulky’s Diary, and picture books of The Lion Dog Sabsari and Chokmae’s Quilt.
