(English) Song Huigyeong is a visiting professor in the Department of Sculpture at Ewha Womans University. After studying Korean painting at Ewha University, she received her Ph.D. from the Department of Art History for her thesis, A Study of Ahoe-do from the Late Joseon Dynasty. She specializes in the culture of intellectuals’ and artisans’ gatherings, and the symbols and structures in figure portraits inspired by anecdotes of revered scholars from history. Her publications include Ahoe-do from the Late Joseon Dynasty, Understanding the Scholarly Spirit and Beautiful Art through Landscape Painting from Joseon, Do You Know Why This Painting Was Drawn? and Understanding Korean History through Korean Paintings.
