(English) After graduating college as a visual design major, author Hwang Jiyeong worked as a character designer, winning awards at multiple character-related contests. While focusing her career on creating characters for children, fate led her to the ”Sangsangmadang Bologna Picture-Book Workshop” where she fell in love with picture books. Since then, she has been writing heartwarming picture books. 

She works on a variety of projects, from developing picture book-related applications to puppet plays, and she recently received a special prize at a character contest and another special prize with Little Girl Ttaeng and the Old Lady at the Folk Painting Contest of Korea. She wrote and illustrated The Frog Mirror and Here Comes the Hunger! and illustrated for Argh! The Bathroom Ghost; It’s Me; and An Unsmiling Princess.
