(English) Ch’oe Yun was born in Seoul in 1953. After graduating from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Sogang University, she received her Ph.D. in French Literature from the University of Provence. She began her career as a writer by publishing a literary critique in Literature Thought in 1978 and a short story in Literature and Society in 1988. She is the author of short story collections such as There a Petal Silently Falls, Whisper, Whisper, Flower Scent of Thirteen Names, and First Encounter, and novels including You Are No longer You, Winter, Atlantis, Mannequin, Oric Mansty, and Blue Gate. She won the Dongin Literary Award, Yi Sang Literary Award, and Yi Hyo-seok Literary Award and is Professor Emeritus of French Culture at Sogang University.
