So Jaewon, a writer known for representing the weak, was born in 1983. Making his debut at the young age of 26, So wrote his debut work I Was a Hooker, which was made into the movie Beastie Boys. It has been only 8 years since his debut, but 5 of his novels have already become the original works of movies. Hope, a film directed by Lee Joonik in 2013, is another a movie adapted from one of his novels. The Day, a novel exposing the hidden crimes of the Japanese Empire to the world, and The Germ, a novel exposing the reality of humidifier sterilizers, are also in the process of being made into movies. It isn't just his novels that face the truth that people need to know; So Jaewon is known for his demonstrating such behavior in his own life. So Jaewon is currently serving as a member of the Ethics Judging Committee, a position from which he passes judgments on abuse of power by congressmen. So is also taking the lead in social activities such as helping victims of humidifier sterilizers. So’s maiden work has also been made into a movie directed by Kim Sunghoon in 2016 called Tunnel and stars Ha Jungwoo, Oh Dalsoo, and Bae Doona. Tunnel is also a novel that approaches readers through clean and straightforward truth. The film was submitted to The Locarno International Film Festival and recently chosen, and the novel Tunnel is considered a work that reveals So's genuine inner side. So's last words of hope were that his audience would, through Tunnel, try to take the time to confess mistakes that we have all made at least once in life.
