Lee was born in the city of Gimpo in 1975. She traveled the world and lived outside Korea for a while. After studying child psychology, she worked as a therapist for young children and went on to study in the graduate program of social welfare at Sungkonghoe University. While studying and doing field research, she met children struggling with different problems, and she was able to look into their lives and understand them better. With a Ph.D. program ahead of her, she was pondering her future career while participating in academic conferences when she suddenly became drawn to writing. This is her debut novel.
