Jin Bora studied Western painting in the Department of Art at Sungkyunkwan University and worked on a special effects (SFX) makeup team for films. In 2019, while studying at the Picture Book Imagination School, she completed the dummy of her first picture book, Until You’re Out of Breath. The book won a prize in the Woongjin Junior Picture Book Contest, and Jin was selected as one of the Illustrators of the Year at the 2020 Bologna Children’s Book Fair.​
