Park Gyeonghui (F) was born in Yangpyeong in Gyeonggi province. She was an energetic girl who used to play in nature. Now, with the same energy, she writes books. Park has worked as a scriptwriter in radio broadcasting for 20 years. She received the Writer Award for Korean Broadcasting Radio hosted by the Korean Producers and Directors Association in 2006 and won the Dongsuh Coffee Literary Award for Novels in 2002. She made her literary debut with her short story Salvia, which was published in the literature magazine Monthly Literature in 2004. Currently, Park teaches humanities classes to North Korean teenagers and writing at Heavenly Dream School, an alternative school for North Korean defectors. She has published several books including Ryu Myeongsung's Reunification Bakery, The Flying Whale, A Pink Brick House, Young Runners on the Mongolian Prairie and Mom Smells Like a Potato Flower.
