Kim Hong-mo has liked drawing ever since he was young. When he was young, he would draw with a rusty old nail on the dirt in the yard of his house, or with his feet in the snow in the winter. He grew up around comic books because his older brother was a comic-book artist. Kim decided to become a comic-book artist because he thought his brother looked so cool working on comics at his desk. He has collaborated on socially sensitive topics projects such as Yongsan My Hometown, People Who Cannot Leave, and Red Disinfectant. He has also written and illustrated adventure stories for children: Fun-filled Expeditions and My Friend Maro. Currently, he is working on a serial titled Island of Gods on the webtoon platform K-toon. He received an award for Yongsan My Hometown and an award for Fun-filled Expeditions from Bucheon Manhwa Contest in 2010. In 2016, he also received an award for My Friend Maro from Bucheon Manhwa Contest.
