Jeon Chanil began his career in film critique through contributions to the monthly magazine Mal in November 1993. He served as a program coordinator for the Busan International Film Festival from 2002 to 2007 and as a programmer, vice chairman of marketing, and research director from 2009 to 2016. Jeon currently serves as the chairman of the Korean Cultural Content Critique Association and as an executive member of the Bucheon International Animation Festival. His works include Fascination with Movies, a Savage Critique, Busan's Cultural Infrastructure and Festivals (co-authored), Homo Hundred and Cultural Industries (co-authored).
