While studying Korean painting in college, Lee Jihyun fell in love with the Paintings of Plants and Insects by Danwon (Gim Hong-do) and Kyomjae (Jeong Seon) and decided to capture Korean flora through paintings. Thanks to her father, she was able to live among countless insects in pumpkin fields, from grasshoppers and cicada larvae to stinkbugs and mantids. Through such organisms, she rediscovered the meaning of living with nature. Kim plans to continue to capture nature warmly and beautifully just like her favorite Korean artists of the past.
