Women who never had a chance to realize their dreams, too busy with living, found the time to learn to write only after reaching their old age. Having learned to write their own name and address, they were as happy as if they had the whole world, but they decided to learn to draw as well. At first they refused to learn, never having drawn before, but soon they found joy in drawing and filled their sketchbook with drawings even when they were home by themselves. These women became authors and illustrators who wrote and drew about their lives, the people around them, and the scenes surrounding them, and exhibited their works, dozens and hundreds of them.

生きるだけで精一杯で、夢はあっても挑戦すらできなかった人たちが、おばあさんになってようやく自分のために時間を使って字を習い始めた。自分の名前と住所が書けるだけでも夢みたいで幸せだったが、もっと勇気を出して絵を習った。一度も描いたことがない絵を描けと言われて最初は嫌がったが、すぐに絵の楽しさに魅了され家でもスケッチブックいっぱいに絵を描いた。今まで生きてきた物語や周囲の人たちや風景を数十枚、数百枚の絵と文で表現。それを展示し、本を出して作家になった。
