Kwon Youngmin (M) majored in Korean Language and Literature at Seoul National University and received a PhD from the graduate school of the same university. He previously worked as professor of Korean Language and Literature at the College of Humanities at Seoul National University. At present, he is professor emeritus of Seoul National University and a chair-professor at Dankook University. His main books include The History of Modern Korean Literature, Lecture on Our Sentences, 13 Secrets of Yi Sang's Literature, The Birth of Ogamdo (Crow's Eye View), and Re-Reading Jeong Jiyong's 126 Poems. He has received various awards, such as the Contemporary Literary Award, Kim Hwantae Award for Literary Criticism, Seoul Cultural and Art Critique Award, and Manhae Award for Academics.
