(English) She studied comparative and Korean philosophy in the Department of philosophy at Ewha Womans University, and she presently works as a professor in the same department at her alma mater. Her area of expertise is in the encounter and the changes between the East and the West, and intellectual turning points which took place in Europe due to Asian influence. Recently, she has been examining philosophical challenges taken upon by Confucian scholars in Joseon such as Yi Ik, Jeong Yakyong, and Choe Hangi. Her publications include the following: Seohak, the Unfamiliar Mirror Encountered by Joseon Confucianism; Silhak Creates a World; Matteo Ricci, Zhu Xi, and Jeong Yakyong; The Time to Study Me; Eight Maps of Philosophy.
